The DPF is in a car to try and elimate up to 80% off this soot from leaving the exhaust and getting into the atmosphere. The DPF stores the soot in order to reduce emissions, but because they have a limited capacity this soot has to be burnt off often in order to keep it working properly. If your car is not able to burn off the soot this blocks
Since 2009, modern diesel cars have been required to incorporate a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) in the exhaust system to prevent soot from entering the atmosphere. The goal is to reduce particle emissions by 80%, however the technology isnât without flaws, and our patrols are frequently called to cars with a blocked DPF.
The DPF light coming on is a clear indicator that your car use and driving style needs to be reviewed, and you should avoid using the car for trips like the school run or regular journeys where the car cannot reach and maintain its normal operating temperature for at least 25 minutes. If this is not possible then you should either consider
Get a petrol. ALL Euro 5 category cars are REQUIRED to have a DPF to meet the standards. they do not need such longer runs or revs now but driving round the city is not going to do it much good. I would be happy to get petrol, but fuel consumption is so high as far as i know (did see numbers like 13mpg) for petrol XC60 in the city.
âAll youâve got to do is Google DPF tuner online and youâll have a hundred places you can buy it today,â David Sparks, a mechanic who has featured on Diesel Brothers, said in a deposition
Does my car have a DPF filter? If the car requires a low ash (Low SAPS) oil, then it indicates the presence of a DPF. Finally, if you are still unsure, take the VIN number from the vehicle and contact the dealer / manufacturer as they will be able to see what options your car was supplied with at the factory and whether a DPF was amongst them.
If the car has option code 474 fitted it has a DPF Check your car's option code listing with this VIN number checker. Mercedes-Benz VIN decoder - Lookup and check Mercedes-Benz VIN number and get build sheet and specs for free.
I had the dealer do all the routine maintenance for the first 60,000 to 70,000 miles. That included the 40,000 DSG service. I knew the car wasnât running right. At 80,000 miles I did it myself. I drained 9 quarts out of the DSG transmission!!!! I called the dealer and complained. It is only should have @ 4 1/2 quarts.
